You've chosen the topic of your web site and know your goal .... and now you
need to understand its purpose.
- A topic is the subject matter of your website
- A
goal is an aim or a target
- A purpose is its reason for being.
A good
example of this can be found by studying the all new Yahoo site, its topic is
the web, its goal is to share the web with the world, however its purpose is to
sell advertising.
You are here because you want to make money from the web .... right?
So what are you going to sell?
Well that depends on the topic of your web site. You need to understand your visitors and the kind of things they may be interested in. There is very little point in writing a website about lace making and then advertising car parts on that site! However, if you were to advertise lace tablecloth patterns or lace making kits, you would be more likely to "reach" your target market.
Remember that you won't need to have your own product to sell.
You just need at this stage to understand the types of products or services that will be of interest to the visitors that will view your website
